News from the Campaign
Effort supporting the next generation of alumnae/i crosses $240 million mark.
From the beginning, we have talked about the Defy Expectation Campaign goal of $250 million being our minimum goal. This is because when we reach our minimum goal, we will not yet have reached our full potential.
Your pride is invigorating our ambitions, and your devotion and engagement are changing the College. Thank you for personifying our excellence, making the potential inherent in a Bryn Mawr education real for a whole new generation of young people.
We are receiving record numbers of applications, a record number are making Bryn Mawr their first choice with Early Decision applications, and our Admissions are the most selective since we started keeping records more than 50 years ago.
Defy Expectation has now crossed $240 million with one year left in the Campaign. Your support is making a tangible difference—on the student experience, on our physical plant, and on our ability to innovate—at our college.
With close to 95,000 gifts so far, we are asking for you to join us—for the first time, for the second time, with a special gift,
annually—in supporting the next generation of alumnae/i. We are asking for your loyalty, your leadership, and your legacy.
Your continuing support of the Defy Expectation Campaign is instrumental to sustaining our commitment to innovation and to access. When we smash our minimum goal, it will be a direct result of your generosity because we can’t do any of this without you.
Thank you for accelerating our momentum.
Loyalty
The Archways Society
The Archways Society recognizes the College’s most loyal donors. Anyone can join the Archways Society by donating any amount for three consecutive years or more. Members at the Rockefeller-level have donated 10 or more years in a row. Pembroke-level donors have made a gift for 25 or more years in a row. Like the many arches at Bryn Mawr, Archways members provide strength and stability to support today’s students. Nearly 4,000 donors are now Archways members and have collectively contributed over $5 million to The Bryn Mawr Fund and $25.3 million to all funds in Fiscal Year 2018–2019.
Leadership
The Slade Society
The Caroline McCormick Slade Society recognizes the exceptional commitment of alumnae/i, families, and friends who provide a strong base of leadership support to Bryn Mawr College with gifts of $2,500 or more. Each year, Slade members represent only 11 percent of donors but contribute more than 75 percent of the dollars that sustain Bryn Mawr as a top-tiered liberal arts college and enable Bryn Mawr to attract and support our exceptional students. GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) alumnae/i receive Slade membership at discounted rates equal to the number of years since their graduation multiplied by $100.
Legacy
The Taylor Society
The Taylor Society honors and recognizes alumnae/i and friends who have created a legacy gift to Bryn Mawr through their will; named the College as a beneficiary of a retirement plan, trust, bank account, or life insurance; or made other life income arrangements such as charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, or pooled income funds. There are currently 660 members of The Taylor Society.
