Poetics and Politics of Race is a 360 cluster investigating race and the intersections of different cultural practices by examining artifacts in various contexts.
The goal of this 360 is to unpack how meaning is made from representations of race—from artifacts in an anthropological context, to representations in literature, to how people teach and learn. We will interrogate racial constructions – including the black-white binary – through an investigation of how different cultural practices play out and play into one another.
This 360 cluster consists of three courses. Detailed information about each course is available here. Additionally, the cluster has a field component, taking day trips to Philadelphia and Washington, DC area museums, as well as a number of guest lectures.
Interested students must fill out this short questionnaire no later than Wednesday, April 6th at noon.
