Description
We seek highly motivated individuals from all backgrounds to serve as tutors and mentors in our after-school program for children K-6. Puentes de Salud's education branch, Puentes Hacia el Futuro, is predicated upon the well-evidenced fact that education is inextricably tied to the health of individuals and communities. The mission of Puentes Hacia el Futuro is to support the educational achievement of children in the South Philadelphia Latino immigrant community in order to improve long-term health outcomes, as well as to provide support in the context of extremely limited educational resources. Interns will have the unparalleled opportunity to work and to learn at the intersection of social justice, migration, community and urban education in a community-based environment. Interns will be able to build close relationships with a small group of students and work closely as part of our team. Students may use this work to fulfill academic field work, internship, or independent study requirements.
