The following email was sent to faculty and staff by Jennifer Spohrer, director of educational technology services, on March 24.
Dear faculty and staff,
We are now accepting seed grant applications for AY2016-17 curricular development projects related to Bryn Mawr's Mellon grant for Developing a Liberal Arts Curriculum for the Digital Age.
We are particularly interested in new courses, revisions of existing courses, and other curricular initiatives that:
- Help students develop a critical framework for analyzing and discussing how digital technologies impact societies, economies, culture, human behavior, and/or scholarly knowledge production.
- Introduce them to research methodologies that are enabled by digital tools (such as mapping, network analysis, textual analysis, etc.)
- Help them develop skills and critical frameworks needed to analyze, critique and create non-linear, interactive and/or crowd-sourced narratives and arguments enabled by digital media.
- Support the use of high-impact educational practices, active learning pedagogies, and other pedagogical approaches that can improve student engagement and learning outcomes, personalize learning, and support interdisciplinary and collaborative work.
Please click here to apply (or copy-and-paste this URL into your browser: https://brynmawr.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_eDMmq7asQXQ8KMZ).
Don't worry if your ideas aren't fully formed or if you do not have little experience with the technologies or approaches you are considering. Once you've submitted an application, a member of the Educational Technology Services team will contact you to set up a consultation to discuss your ideas and how we can support them. Student interns funded by this grant will also be available in June and July to help grantees learn new tools and for related production work such as web design, digitization, video production, testing. Please apply by May 15 if you would like to take advantage of summer intern support.
For information about the program and the kinds of things that can be funded through seed grants, please see our website (http://blendedlearning.blogs.brynmawr.edu/seed-grants/mellon-seed-grant-criteria/) or e-mail us at edutech@brynmawr.edu and ask for a consultation.
We are nearing the end of the grant, so AY2016-17 may be the last academic year for which seed grant funding through this program is available. If you have been planning to apply, don't delay!
Best wishes,
Jenny
