My key Bryn Mawr experience was serving as the Owl Ambassador Admissions Intern for two years! Working in the Admissions Office as a tour guide and admissions intern, I also enjoyed running the Owl Ambassadors Club, and training current Bryn Mawr students on how to be successful Owl Ambassadors. Owl Ambassadors host prospective high school seniors overnight, and hopefully create a positive experience that influences their decision to attend Bryn Mawr.
I myself was an Owl Ambassador during my first-year, and it was an amazing experience! I hope to have a made a difference for the program, especially by guiding Owl Ambassadors to speak holistically and positively about their Bryn Mawr experience with prospective students. I also increased participation in the program at Bryn Mawr, not just in hosting prospective students for overnight visits but motivated others to get involved in various Admissions related events! I think it is so exciting and rewarding to be in charge of a club that plays a role in influencing prospective students to enroll and make Bryn Mawr College their future home.
Another key Bryn Mawr experience for me was being able to lead the Lantern Night ceremony as the Senior Songs Mistress. I will never forget leading the Anass to commence the ceremony – it was such a powerful moment. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to start this unique ceremony central to the Bryn Mawr experience for the first-year students. In addition, I loved singing the ceremonial songs with my fellow classmates while seeing the green lanterns being handed down to the Class of 2023, symbolizing the light of knowledge being passed down to the new members of our community. I will always cherish these moments in my heart!
I want to thank the entire Admissions staff for always motivating me to work harder, and to be a better person, student, and friend every day. I especially want to thank Marissa Turchi, the Director of Admissions, who is a role model for me since I started working in Admissions. Marissa has helped shape me to become a better representative for Bryn Mawr every day and has helped me find the career field I want to pursue, which is working in higher education and Admissions. I also want to thank Libby Lakeman, the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions, who is also a role model for me. I have loved my time working with her in Owl Ambassadors and on the Intern Team, finding new ways of promoting positivity and inclusivity for the tour guide team, Owl Ambassadors, and prospective students and their families.
I also want to thank Professor Veronica Montes, Professor Harford Vargas, Professor María Cristina Quintero, and Professor Kaylea Berard. I am grateful to have taken classes with each of these professors, all of whom have contributed to the growth of my identity, and my passion for learning. They have encouraged me to spark my curiosity and critical thinking skills, for which I will forever be grateful. Muchas gracias por su apoyo y su guía durante estos cuatro años.

I hope you enjoy your time at Bryn Mawr as much as I have. Anassa Kata!
