Creative Writing's Daniel Torday Featured in CNET's "Technically Literate" series
Associate Professor of Creative Writing Daniel Torday's short story, "Amos Abrams Dreams of VR Tenure," has been published by CNET as part of the publication's "Technically Literate" series, a collection of "original works of short fiction with unique perspectives on technology."
"Technically Literate" started as an exploration of the intersections of daily life, literature, and technology by Bay Area writers, but is growing to include writers as diverse as Torday, Milwaukee-based writer Lauren Fox, and Sri Lankan American author Nayomi Munaweera. Torday's piece focuses on the impact of virtual reality technology on higher education.
From the article:
He thought—wished, hoped—there might just be someone in one of the avatars taking his class, and almost every time the green arrow lit up, it was the same thing: some kid just in there trolling, at best a spam bot selling porn.
Torday was named the winner of the 2015 National Jewish Book Award for fiction for his debut novel The Last Flight of Poxl West. His work has appeared in Tin House, the Paris Review Daily, and The New York Times Book Review.
