Hania Al-Hallaq '94 Elected Fellow of Association of Physicists in Medicine
Dr. Hania Al-Hallaq '94 has been elected as a Fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. This position honors those who have made distinguished contributions to the medical physics community in research, education, or leadership.
Following her undergraduate education at Bryn Mawr, Al-Hallaq received her Ph.D. in medical physics from the University of Chicago, where she is now an associate professor. Al-Hallaq has mentored 11 Ph.D. dissertation students and physics residents and also serves as the director of the certificate program. She has co-authored 49 publications and four book chapters about image-guided radiotherapy for breast cancer treatment and the use of radiomics to detect radiation treatment-related toxicities.
At AAPM, she has served on eight committees, presented educational seminars, and chaired the Medical Physics Residency Training and Promotion subcommittee. Al-Hallaq is also an examiner for the American Board of Radiology, an associate editor for the Red Journal, and a board member of the Society of Directors of Academic Medical Physics Programs.
