"Iridium(III) Bis-Pyridine-2-Sulfonamide Complexes as Efficient and Durable Catalysts for Homogeneous Water Oxidation," Inorganic Chemistry, American Chemical Society, September 10, 2015.
Abstract: A new family of octahedral Ir(III) complexes with a resilient and electronically tunable tetradentate bis(pyridine-2-sulfonamide) (bpsa) ligand scaffold was synthesized and investigated as a robust and efficient water oxidation catalyst platform. These complexes are capable of catalyzing water oxidation processes electrochemically and chemically with ceric ammonium nitrate, a one-electron oxidant. The molecular nature of these catalysts was confirmed by dynamic light scattering experiments as well as electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance studies.
