For years, Ishana Baboo '25 has created stylized artwork featuring intricate geometric patterns.

"When I was young I loved to doodle and people in school would ask me to make binder covers for them," says Baboo. "I was incredibly bored during COVID when we had to quarantine, and so I decided to start drawing again."

During this time, Baboo's artwork evolved well beyond just doodles, as did her ideas about how to share her work with the rest of the world.

"I wanted to do something with my artwork that would have some benefit to the world, so I started selling it and donating all the proceeds to St. Jude's Hospital," says Baboo, who plans to major in biology with the hope of one day having a career in medicine.

Baboo has been selling prints of her work on Instagram since 2020. This weekend she'll be taking part in a bazaar being held as part of the first-ever South Asian New York Fashion Week. It will be her first time taking part in this sort of in-person event.

"I'm a first-generation Indian-American and my artwork is very much influenced by my culture, so it's exciting to be a part of this."
