Assistant Professor of Psychology Cora E. Mukerji
My current research focuses on understanding how biological, psychological, and contextual factors interact to shape children’s mental health and social development. Using neurobiological and behavioral tools, I study how early experiences and brain plasticity impact the development of core neurocognitive processes (e.g., sensory perception and executive functioning), setting individuals on pathways to distinct social and emotional outcomes. To achieve these aims, my research studies often include youth who have experienced early adversity and neurodiverse children. Through identifying modifiable targets for change at the level of the individual, family, and society, I hope to inform development of clinical interventions and public policy aimed at improving children’s well-being.
The Department of Psychology offers a major program that allows a choice of courses from among a wide variety of fields in the discipline: biological, clinical, cognitive, cultural, developmental, health, and social psychology.
