Associate Professor of Creative Writing Airea D. Matthews is co-director of Bryn Mawr's Creative Writing Program. She's currently teaching Creative Nonfiction and will be teaching Writing Poetry II this spring.
Matthews is also Philadelphia's Poet Laureate for 2022-2023. However, as the below PBS NewsHour piece points out, Matthews is not the first poet laureate in her household. That distinction goes to her son Wes, who served as the 2018-2019 Philadelphia Youth Poet Laureate.
