A study by Educational Technology Specialist Beth Seltzer presented at the annual meeting of the Modern Language Association was recently highlighted in Inside Higher Ed.
From the article:
The study analyzes the 1,658 job postings that the MLA listed in 2015-16 to look at the skills being sought by hiring departments. About three-quarters of the job listings listed at least one skill associated with what are called alternative-academic jobs—skills like public outreach, assessment, administration and curriculum development.
Seltzer works to foster digital pedagogy on campus through her work on the Mellon Blended Learning in the Liberal Arts initiative and other projects. She holds a Ph.D. in English with a certificate in instructional learning and technology from Temple University. She serves as a Northeast Region Delegate Assembly representative and as a member of the Committee on Information Technology for the Modern Language Association.
