Bryn Mawr hosts 7th annual Graduate Research Symposium in Organic Chemistry
August 11, 2016
This past July, Bryn Mawr College hosted the American Chemical Society's 7th annual "Graduate Research Symposium," organized by the Division of Organic Chemistry. During the three-day event, approximately 50 fourth-year graduate students with a focus in organic chemistry presented their research and discussed career opportunities with 35 invited chemists from both academia and industry. The conference, which draws a national crowd, is unique for the fact that the research presentations are primarily given by the graduate students, with only a few by “established” researchers. Besides research presentations, a number of panel discussions gave the graduate student attendees some insight into the world of industry and academia and gave opportunities to ask a wide range of questions as they begin thinking about their next steps for their careers.
