History of Art Ph.D. candidate Shannon Steiner called on to tell story of UNESCO World Heritage site hit by recent airstrike

When the UNESCO World Heritate site of Qal'at Se'man was hit by a midnight Russian airstrike on May 13, the NGO Are You Syrious? invited Shannon Steiner to help tell the story of the building's historical significance for its readers. The building is also known as the Church of Saint Symeon Stylites, and Shannon, who has done much research on the Saint, is continuing to work with other historians and reporters to help assess the damage of this unique architectural monument.
