Eva Goedhart (Mathematics Ph.D., 2016) and Daniel Wisniewski (Mathematics Ph.D., 2010) are co-organizing a special session in honor of Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Helen G. Grundman in January and the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Atlanta. Speakers will include Laura Hall-Seelig, AB '01, MA '04 (Ph.D. UMass), Jaclyn Lang, AB/MA '09 (Ph.D. UCLA), and Rebecca Rebhuhn-Glanz, AB/MA '11 (Ph.D. UMich), who now holds a P. T. Church post-doc at Syracuse University.

Maria Shardakova (Ph.D. Russian, 2003) has been promoted to associate professor with tenure in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Indiana University. A. Newel "Tony" Brown (Ph.D. Russian, 2004) was promoted to full professor in the Department of Russian at Brigham Young University. Alla Smyslova (Ph.D. Russian, 2009) has been promoted to Director of Russian Language Study in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, Columbia University. Mark Baugher (Ph.D. Russian, 2012) has accepted a position as Lecturer in Russian at the University of Chicago. Beata Galaher (Ph.D. Russian, 2011) has accepted a position as Lecturer in Russian at the University of South Carolina.
Marrisa Vigneault (History of Art Ph.D., 2009), assistant professor at Utah State University, gave a talk at the Southeastern College Art Conference in Roanoke, VA, in October.
