'Madama Butterfly' Opera Night at The Academy of Music in Philadelphia
Please join the Department of Transnational Italian Studies for an opera night to attend "Madama Butterfly," the most celebrated opera by Giacomo Puccini, which tells the thought-provoking story of the lovelorn geisha Cio Cio San in early twentieth-century Japan.
The show will take place on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 8:00 to 10.30 p.m. at The Academy of Music in Philadelphia (240 S Broad St) and will be opened at 7 p.m. with an introductory talk by musicologist Lily Kass. Septa train passes can be picked up Friday morning in Old Library 106. Please take the 6.02 pm Septa train from Bryn Mawr, which arrives at Philadelphia's Suburban Station at 6.30 pm (10 10-minute walk from the Academy of Music). On the way back, please take the 11.01 pm train from Suburban Station, which arrives at Bryn Mawr at 11.25 pm. Opera tickets and Septa passes are sponsored by the Tri-Co Philly Program.
