The Periodic Table: A World Premiere Concert for Nicholas Patruno and Primo Levi

About the Composer
Jessi Harvey '09 is a freelance composer and teacher. Their compositions take inspiration from science and nature, and integrate social curiosity, humor, and a love of knowledge. Jessi has worked with Opera Elect, the Art Song Collaborative Project, Strange Interlude, the Onomatopoeia Trio, Karin Steven’s Dance, Julia Lougheed, Olivia Valenza, and the Live Music Project. Jessi was also a selected composer at Unheard//of Ensemble’s Collaborative Composition Initiative (2021), Laboratoire de musique contemporaine de Montréal (2019), and the Waterloo Contemporary Music Sessions (2018), and they were an artist-in-residence at the Rensing Center (2021), Open AIR (2022), and the Denver Botanic Garden's Landline Residency (2022). Since 2022, Jessi has been part of the Emlen Artist Co-Lab, a collaboration with choreographer Julynn Wildman, Open AIR, the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium, the University of Montana's Music Department, as well as the Emlen Evolutionary Biology Lab. Their works received several accolades, such as the first place at the 2020 Darkwater Womxn in Music Festival and an honorable mention for the 2020 Splinter Tongue Call for Proposals.
About the Pianist
Charles Abramovic is an active part of the musical life of Philadelphia as well as a Professor of Keyboard Studies at Temple University. He has won critical acclaim for his international performances as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborator with leading instrumentalists and singers. He has performed a vast repertoire not only on the piano, but also the harpsichord and fortepiano. He has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Pittsburgh Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, the Colorado Philharmonic, the Florida Philharmonic, and the Nebraska Chamber Orchestra. He has given solo recitals throughout the United States, France, and Yugoslavia, and appeared at major international festivals in Berlin, Salzburg, Bermuda, Dubrovnik, Aspen, and Vancouver. Abramovic has performed often with such stellar artists as Midori, Sarah Chang, Robert McDuffie, Viktoria Mullova, Kim Kashkashian, Mimi Stillman and Jeffrey Khaner, and his many recordings of contemporary works have also been widely praised.
