This course will cover the basic principles of nutrition, wellness, and food prep. We will learn how to apply introductory kitchen skills to achieve balanced meals. The goal of the course is to enhance student knowledge of food choices and become more comfortable in the kitchen.  (1 PE credit)

PE B005 PE?! There's an app for that! 

Spring 2026

This is a hybrid, intermediate class open to anyone with baseline experience, skill and/or fitness levels. With the help of TeamBuildr, an online strength and conditioning platform, you will track your fitness journey in the app's journaling function. This class will provide the opportunity to either create your own free-form programming or follow along with pre-loaded routines on TeamBuildr. Class will meet in person once a week to review app functions, answer programming questions and offer support on your training journey. The rest of the course credit will be earned based on your independent use of the fitness center and the contents of your TeamBuildr journal. (Quarter course, 1 PE credit)

PE B007 Leadership Essentials Wellness Course

The Leadership Essentials course guides students through the process of exploring and developing leadership skills. This course is for anyone who would like to: discover their own unique leadership style improve their ability to lead authentically and effectively, understand their impact and role within groups, and connect with other students engaged in their own leadership journeys. Through a combination of workshops, values exploration, and guided practice, you will develop a toolbox of strategies that will help you as a leader and contribute to your overall wellness as you live and work in community with others. PE B009 Digital Storytelling: Capturing Campus on the Move

Fall 2025, Spring 2026

In twelve one-hour sessions, learn to capture and craft stories on video about life at Bryn Mawr. Each class meeting will include a walk on campus to record the sights and sounds of the College, and then in the classroom we will assemble our observations into a variety of audio-visual narratives. No prior photography, audio recording, or video production experience required, but comfortable walking shoes are a must! 1 PE credit.

PE B012 Anything but P.E.

Spring 2026

If that title caught your attention, then this class is for you. Yes, the class is taught through the Physical Education Department. And yes, this class helps you earn P.E. credit towards your graduation requirements. But the purpose of this class is to help navigate Schwartz Fitness Center as a non-athlete. Yes, instructors will provide instruction on the weird and crazy machines you've been nervous to try, but there's more than that. The goal of the class is to help you feel welcome in a space that might be outside your comfort zone. 1 PE credit.

This course is for beginners looking to add rowing to their fitness routine. Students in this course will learn the basic technical aspects of the rowing stroke and the rowing machine, and how to build a fitness routine on the erg. Students will be exposed to endurance, speed and strength workouts with feedback and direction from the instructor. Quarter PE class, 1 PE credit.

PE B017 Design Your Life Wellness Course

Fall 2025, Spring 2026

Become a designer! This course is a fun and energizing multi-part series to learn ideas, reframe perspectives on how to approach decisions, and use Design Your Life tools and practices to move forward intentionally whether you have a clear career goal or feel unsure of where to begin. The Design Your Life Wellness Course is for anyone who would like to collaborate with a group to: walk and meditate together, learn new ways to think and plan your future, have fun testing out tools and practices, and let go of the "shoulds" and pressure that comes with trying to make the "perfect" decision. By applying the Life Design Mindsets of reframing (getting unstuck!), curiosity, bias toward action, mindfulness of process, radical collaboration, and storytelling you will explore different ways to support your holistic wellness and tackle the "wicked problem" of designing your life. You will practice awareness and empathy, set personal goals, ideate about ways to move forward, try small prototypes, and test assumptions in a supportive group setting. 1 PE credit.

PE B021 Basketball for Beginners

Fall 2025, Spring 2026

The goal of this class is to introduce the fundamentals skills of basketball. Students will learn offensive and defensive skills plus an introduction to team play. Instruction will focus on the fundamentals and highlight shooting, passing, and dribbling. Students will begin with the basics/fundamentals, stance/triple threat and progress through to more advanced skills dribbling, passing, defense, shooting, and rebounding Each class is curriculum based and will build upon the skills and concepts learned in the previous class(es). Each class will end with a fun game focused on a skill learned in class. 1PE Credit.

PE B022 Project Fitness

The goal of this full semester class is to provide knowledge, resources, and activities designed to promote personal initiative in developing healthy lifestyle practices. Class meets in the fitness center once a week with instructor implementing general principles of fitness. Required additional activity occurs on a weekly basis allowing for individual flexibility in scheduling. Activity based class designed to meet all levels of experience. PE B025 Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)

Fall 2025, Spring 2026

Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Systems has been around for over 10 yrs. There are over 1500 certified instructors and this system is taught at over 350 colleges and universities. The program has a two fold approach. The first is education of women, which deals with avoidance and how to prevent being in a bad situation. The second is a practical self defense system that can show how to defend against abduction. The objective is to: "Develop and enhance the options of self defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked." Department permission for registration. Registration through Physical Education Department. (Quarter Course, 1 PE Credit)

PE B027 Yoga

Spring 2026

In this course, students will develop a functional understanding of yoga in order to increase self-awareness, improve overall well-being, and to find a deeper level of authenticity to draw upon for their every day lives. The class will offer foundational poses, noting their benefits and challenges. We will spend most of the class time practicing these foundational poses as the goal is to adapt them to our specific bodies rather than force our bodies into specific shapes. We will also experience various breathing exercises and guided meditations as they are part of the full scope of yoga practice, and contribute to our goal of energetic and emotional well-being. Quarter course, 1 PE credit.

PE B042 Pickleball

Pickleball is a beginner's class open to all experience, skill, and fitness levels. Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-ping. The format of the class will be a combination of instruction (learning the rules, the scoring, and the technique) and competition (small sided games and round robins). 1 PE credit

PE B048 THRIVE Seminar

Fall 2025

Through THRIVE, first-year students get to know the community, their peers, and themselves while developing habits, mindsets and strategies needed to navigate a successful first year of college. Through weekly discussions and scheduled presentations, students gain a better understanding of themselves as college students physically, mentally, academically, emotionally, and socially. Successful completion of this required ten-week course earns students two credits toward the Physical Education requirement.

Zumba® is latin dance fitness aerobics all in one. The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves with lively, fun music. PE B064 Intro to Golf

Spring 2026

Golf is a lifelong activity where you can play outside with friends for years to come. Golf can be a fun, relaxing game to be played for years to come as well as a way to improve your standing in business or a way to raise some money for a worthy cause. In this course you will learn the following: How to grip the club, how to swing, how to putt, equipment needed to play, Golf etiquette, the rules of golf, how to make a tee time, and how to practice. Course involves trips to a local driving range at the end of the semester. (Quarter Course, 1 PE credit)

PE B066 Taekwondo

Spring 2026

This class is an introduction to the Korean martial art of Taekwondo. Training in the martial arts will develop coordination between mind, body, and spirit. Physically, taekwondo will improve strength, speed, balance, flexibility, and stamina. The initial classes will focus on strengthening the body through the basic movements (stances, kicking, punching, and blocking), in addition to developing a progressive stretching routine. After an initial skill set has been developed, students will progress to target kicking, combination movements, basic white belt form, and lastly self-defense. The main outcome of this class is to help you feel confident in your ability to harness your inner strength in order to persevere in any situation. (Quarter Course, 1 PE credit).

The goal of this quarter semester class is to introduce students to the Tabata High Intensity Interval Training protocol (20 second-bursts of high intensity workout followed by a 10-second rest). Students will perform body-weight exercises designed to build cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, power, speed, balance, agility, and coordination. This is an activity-based class designed to meet all levels of experience. 1 PE credit

An introduction to the basic movement elements of jazz dance styles including the development of the necessary skills for moving dynamically through space, with rhythm and expression. Fall 2025

Students learn basic movements from hip-hop, funk, house, breakin' and other contemporary urban styles. The course aims to expand the student's dance skills while increasing their knowledge of the history of hip-hop and providing a sophisticated understanding of the potential of hip hop as an art and social form. PE(D) B150 Dance Ensemble: Hip Hop

Spring 2026

Enrollment Criteria: By audition only. Dance ensembles are designed to offer students significant opportunities to develop dance technique, particularly in relationship to dance as a performance art. Students audition for entrance into individual ensembles. Original works choreographed by faculty or guest choreographers or works reconstructed / restaged from classic or contemporary repertories are rehearsed and performed in concert. Students are evaluated on their participation in rehearsals, their demonstration of full commitment and openness to the choreographic and performance processes both in terms of attitude and technical practice, and their achieved level of performance. This course is open to intermediate and advanced level dancers. Concurrent attendance in one technique class session a week is strongly recommended. Students must commit to the full semester and be available for rehearsal week and two Spring Dance Concert performances. (Semester course, 2 PE credits)

Students must be performing in a faculty-directed Theater Program production that utilizes physical theatre techniques.
