Coombe Special Collections Suite
The Eva Jane Romaine Coombe ’52 Special Collections Suite on the second floor of Canaday Library provides spaces for students, faculty, and visiting scholars to use our extensive archival, historic, and cultural collections.
Highlights
-
The Special Collections Seminar Room is a dedicated space for learning and teaching with objects. Students can observe, work with, and discuss books, documents, artifacts, and works of art under the direction of faculty members, curators of the collections, and other professional staff. The seminar room is a fully equipped smart classroom with storage, display space, and a document camera.
-
The Special Collections Reading Room is used by students and other scholars to consult and study art objects, books, and manuscript material held in the collections. People wanting to use Special Collections are strongly encouraged to make an appointment to examine collections or talk with a staff member about their research.
-
The Coombe Special Collections Suite features gallery spaces which are often filled with exhibitions created by students as part of a class, praxis, internship, or other employment; or as personal or group artistic or research activity.
