
Provost Search
Bryn Mawr College is currently accepting internal nominations for its new Provost.
The Provost is Bryn Mawr College’s Chief Academic Officer and an Officer of the College, responsible for the design and implementation of all aspects of the College’s undergraduate and graduate academic mission (teaching and research) inside and outside of the classroom. Working closely with the President, key responsibilities include collaborating with the faculty to align academic strategy; managing all aspects of faculty recruitment, nurturance, and professional development; and continuing to enliven and celebrate academic vitality in teaching and research core to the college’s mission.

Provost Search Process & Timeline
- President asks the Committee on Nominations to constitute a search committee
- President discusses draft job description with a range of faculty groups and committees
- Search Committee finalized by the Committee on Nominations
- Search Committee selects its chair(s)
- President collaborates with the Search Committee on the job description and the timeline and process proposed here.
- President finalizes the job description, search process, and timeline
- President’s Office distributes final job description internally
- President’s Office opens portal for nominations of current faculty at Bryn Mawr College on behalf of the search committee
- President’s Office closes the portal for nominations on behalf of the search committee
- Search Committee chair(s) invite everyone who has been nominated to apply with a letter of interest and CV
- Letters of interest and CVs due to the search committee
- Search committee decides if they also wish to solicit applications from people who are not current Full Professors at Bryn Mawr College. If the search committee does this, the timeline that follows will need to be altered to have an interim Provost through the Spring 2026 and likely a start date for a new Provost of July 1, 2026.
- Search Committee conducts interviews with applicants. The President is available to assist with the interview questions and process if requested.
- This will be delayed if the Committee decides to solicit applications from people who are not current Full Professors at Bryn Mawr College. If the search committee does this, the timeline that follows will need to be altered to have an interim Provost through the Spring 2026 and likely a start date for a new Provost of July 1, 2026.
- Search Committee submits its slate to the President if they do not solicit applications from people who are not current Full Professors at Bryn Mawr College.
- President may conduct interviews with members of the slate 1:1 and/or with other members of the senior staff.
- If, after consultation with the committee, the Committee on Appointments and the Board, the President finds none of the persons proposed acceptable, the committee shall propose another slate.
- Ideally on or before December 15, the President will announce the next Provost
