Testing Center
Our Testing Center facilitates exam accommodations for approved undergraduate students with disabilities.
Guidelines Request Use of the Testing Center FAQs
At Bryn Mawr College, we use an individualized, interactive process to determine reasonable testing accommodations for students with disabilities who self-identify.
Students: Testing accommodations are intended to provide you equal access by addressing institutional barriers related to time limits, testing environments, exam delivery, and more. Our Testing Center facilitates the implementation of approved accommodations by providing a dedicated distraction-reduced space with the appropriate staff and materials. Please see Process for Students below to learn more about using the Testing Center.
Faculty: Students may come to you with verification letters regarding testing accommodations. If you wish to use Testing Center services to facilitate your exams, please follow the Process for Faculty guidelines below.
Testing Center Guidelines
Please follow this procedure if you are interested in requesting the use of the Testing Center for Students with Approved Accommodations for your course.
- Faculty must complete the Testing Agreement Form to request the use of the Testing Center for their exams.
- Requests should be made three weeks in advance of the exam. If submitting a request three weeks in advance poses a challenge for any reason, please email testingcenter@brynmawr.edu so the Testing Center staff can collaborate to determine a potential solution.
- Exams must be submitted to the Testing Center one week in advance of the exam.
- Note: You do not need to submit the number or names of students for this request.
- Upon receipt of a request, the Testing Center staff will schedule a proctor and book the space if available.
- If the space is already booked, the Testing Center staff will notify the requesting faculty.
- The Testing Center staff will contact the students with accommodations in that course to confirm the exam time.
- If the student has concerns about taking the exam at the scheduled time, the Testing Center staff will facilitate communication with the student and their professor about an appropriate alternative time (when applicable).
- When the space, proctor, and students are confirmed, the Testing Center staff will send calendar invitations to the student, proctor, and professor, confirming the exam time, location, and other details.
- Faculty must deliver their exam to Testing Center staff one week before the exam.
- Faculty may collect the exams from the Testing Center staff when all students have completed them. Exams are expected to be picked up within two business days.
- Students should share their verification letters with their professors as soon as possible at the start of the semester to inform them of any testing accommodations.
- If a professor requests the use of the space for an upcoming exam, eligible students in that course will get an email from testingcenter@brynmawr.edu. Students should reply to this email immediately to confirm their intention to use their accommodations for the exam.
- Students will receive confirmation of the date, time, location, and other details for the exam from testingcenter@brynmawr.edu. Students should arrive at the specified location at the scheduled time for the exam. It is recommended that students arrive five minutes early to settle in. Students who are late for their exam(s) will not be given additional time.
- Students are expected to abide by the Honor Code and any of the testing guidelines set forth by their professor during the exam.
- Students with specific questions about the implementation of their accommodations within the context of the Testing Center should speak immediately with their faculty and Testing Center staff.

Frequently Asked Questions
For Spring 2025, the Testing Center is open to undergraduate students with approved disability-related accommodations for exams (e.g., extended time, distraction-reduced location, etc.). At this time, the Testing Center is not able to serve postbaccalaureate or graduate students nor students without approved accommodations through Access Services. As a reminder, faculty must request the use of the Testing Center for their exams. If a faculty member requests the use of the Testing Center, the Testing Center staff will identify and contact eligible students.
The Testing Center is designed to accommodate 8-10 students at one time. This would typically be considered “distraction-reduced” given the size and layout of the space.
If a student with approved testing accommodations misses their scheduled exam, the Testing Center staff will work with the student and the professor to determine an appropriate time for a make-up exam. At this time, the Testing Center cannot facilitate exams for students who are not registered with accommodations through Access Services.
Yes, you can email your exam to testingcenter@brynmawr.edu.
- Please encrypt any emails with testing materials.
- Please note that exams must be sent in the appropriate format to meet the students’ accommodations (e.g., compatible with text-to-speech, enhanced font size, etc.). Exams will not be returned via email or campus mail—they must be picked up from the Testing Center in person.
